What can be seen on the rooftops in Tehran?
In the last century the rooftops of the houses along with the lifestyle of Iranians have changed.
Domed and vaulted roofs were first replaced with gable roofs and then with flat roofs as new waterproof roofing materials made them more practical. Flat roofs and fans made of tin and galvanised iron, TV antennas, and recently satellite dishes have changed the overall look of the rooftops in Tehran. Perhaps the only thing that remains the same is the view of drying laundry on clothesline.
