Ferdowsi Avenue is a major thoroughfare in Tehran and it used to be called Ala’odoleh Avenue in Qajar period. It runs from Toopkhane in the south and after passing through Istanbul intersection it ends in Ferdowsi Square in the north.
Embassies of Germany, Great Britain, Turkey, the buildings of National Bank of Iran & Bank Sepah, and several museums including National Jewels Museum & Bank Sepah’s Coin Museum are all located on this avenue. The first Department Store in Iran – the popular Ferdowsi Store – was also on this avenue.
