Mice and the Cat (ascribed to Ubayd Zakani, born in the late 14th century) is one of the earliest known Children books in Persian.

Much like Tom and Jerry this is the story of endless battles between mice and cats. The two stories, however, draw drastically different conclusions: the Iranian tale clearly suggests that the mice’s fight is futile. Nothing is ever going to change in their life.
