One thousand and One nights (1853)

Mirza Abol-Hassan Khan Ghaffari Kashani, also known as ‘Abol-Hassan the Second’ and ‘Sani-al-Mulk’, is considered the first teacher of European style of painting in Iran.
Son of the early 19th century painter and graphic artist, Mirza Mohammad Ghaffari, Sani al-Mulk was born in 1814 in Kashan. Master Mehr-Ali Esfahani, the famous painter and naqqashbashi (grand painter) of Fath-Ali Shah of Qajar tutored him in painting. Sani-al-Mulk passed away in 1866 at the age of 52.

این نگارگری های گنجینه بی مانندی است از پوشاک و فرهنگ ایرانیان در اوایل ناصرالدین شاه و دوران صدارات اعتماد الدوله میرزا آقا خان نوری.
در ان سال ها دوربین تصویربرداری تازه وارد ایران شده و عکس ها چندان کیفیت نداشت .
اما معدود تصاویر شاه جوان جالب است که به قول محمد حسن خان اعتماد السلطنه تازه بزور ریش گذاشته بود تا نشانه مردانگی را داشته باشد.
نخستین مد اروپایی دستمال گردن بود که در ان دوران درباریان و بویژه جوانان استفاده می کردند ولی هنوز پارچه مصرفی تولید داخل بود و شرکت های انگلیسی با دستیاری نوکرهای بازاری که نسل های بعدی همگی پسوند چی را به نام خانوادگی خود اضافه کرده بودند مهم ترین صنعت ایران را نابود ننموده بودند.
در آن سال ها ابریشم و صادرات ان حکم تریاک اواخر قرن نوزدهم و نفت کنونی را از لحاظ ارزآوری داشت .
