A few years ago due to fluctuations in the level of the Caspian Sea in the last decade, a shipwreck has been exposed from under the coastal sand near the Miankaleh peninsula. 

Given the type and the construction, this ship might well have been one of the ships of either Stepan Razin, the pirate cossack who frequented these shores around 1650, or Peter the Great, who invaded Mazandaran during Russo-Persian War (1722–1723).
