Behzad Golpayegani (1938-1985) was a graphic designer who worked in 1970s for various journals, such as Peyk and Talaash. He also designed many book covers for the Franklin company, a publisher of pocket-sized paperbacks. The use of typography and kraft board distinguished him from other Iranian designers.

The Blind Owl (1937) is Sadegh Hedayat’s most enduring work of prose and a major literary work of 20th century Iran. Written in Persian, it tells the story of a young man’s despair after losing a mysterious lover. As the narrator gradually drifts into madness, the reader becomes caught in the sandstorm of Hedayat’s bleak vision of the human condition.
A collection of propaganda posters, published by the British during the World War II, in Persian for distribution in Iran. The posters’s dimensions are about 76cm X 50cm. These posters are preserved in Imperial War Museums.
Here are a few examples from the newly launched permanent online exhibition, “Graphics of Revolution and War: Iranian Poster Arts.” The digital exhibit showcases posters from the 1979 Iranian Revolution and the Iran-Iraq War (1980-88). Along with the introductory essay, thematic sections, and poster descriptions, the website also provides additional commentary (including information about the provenance of the poster collection at the University of Chicago) as well as poster artists’ information and further bibliographic resources.
